Stacking Birds

I can't believe my sweet little neice is almost 9 months old!  It seems like yesterday she was just born!  Her nursery is adorable - all shades of pinks and mint green with a Paris and poodle theme. 

I love that whenever I want to play around with a design, I know I can always match it with her room and there will be a place for it.  Since the birds are a top fan favorite, I wanted to try out a stacking birds design on cabinet doors. Her walls are a very pale pink, so I decided to paint the whole cabinet in a coordinating green with a hint of pink blended in..

I think this is one of my favorite bird designs :)

A Little Wine Never Hurt Anybody

I am so excited people!  I think you all have figured out that I love anything Alabama and anything houndstooth.   Yesterday, while I was out running around with my mom, I found these adorable wine totes!  They are made out of jute with a houndstooth pattern on it.  With summertime coming up, I thought it'd be a good deal to snag to 'tote' my Skinny Girl around in.  So, we bought one and I was super excited.

Well, down in Tuscaloosa, almost anything you buy has an elephant on it - so why not have a wine tote with an elephant?

How cute is that? 

I am also planning on adding an initial on the other side!  These are perfect to carry around your favorite wine/cocktail to all those summer parties!  They are $18 even {including the shipping price}.

Wedding Birds

Lately, I have been having a lot of fun designing different things on old cabinet doors.  My neighbor across the street needed a wedding gift for her coworker.  We both instantly thought of the bird design..

So, since it was a wedding gift, I thought it'd be cute to have 'married birds.'  I included the bride's color scheme, her new last name, and their wedding date and came up with this design..

I am so glad the bride loved it and wish her all the happiness! :)

First Craft Show ...Check!

Ohh my goodness! I cannot believe I have let it go over two months without blogging on this thing!  I have so much to catch you all up on.  Now that school is out, I can take some extra time to get back into painting and get you all updated on everything. 

I think the last thing we left off on was my craft show.  It was such a great time and a great experience.  I cannot wait to go to the next one!  Here are a few pictures that captured the great time we all had!...

Craft Show

I did not realize it had been so long since my last post! Things have been busy here getting ready for my FIRST CRAFT SHOW! That is right! Mark your calenders for March 31 if you are in the Huntsville area.  At the Roundhouse Depot downtown, from 10:00-5:00, come on out and shop at Doodlebug Art's display!

Well, it is half way through January already, and I feel like I have been really lazy this month {in the painting department}.  December was such a rush and having to get all my Christmas orders done wore me out!  So, this month I decided to take it slow, and just work on a few stock items for later down the road.

The last post,  I left you with the cute little yarn letters.  I did 2 more in different color combinations and I just can't get enough of these little suckers.  Love them to pieces!

Now, one of my favorite 'themes' for painting is baby nurseries.  I love me some baby decor.  A friend is expecting her first little one in February.  She is going to name him Anderson!  She found his bedding on Etsy, and it is adorable!  It is a pale blue and brown color combo with Chevron and Elephants.  You can find the link to it here!

We were brainstorming some ideas for a hospital door hanger, and came up with this idea...

I took my Alabama Elephant Door Hanger, and turned it to a hospital hanger.  BUT...the awesome thing about it is - one side you can use at the hospital, and the other side you can use at home in the nursery! {How convenient!}

I have a new found love for this Chevron design that was in the bedding, so I threw in this piece to go along with the bedding!

I am really looking forward to making some more pieces using the Chevron pattern.  What are some funky fun color combos you'd like to see?

Yarn Wrapped Letters

This is a super short and quick post!  I am just stopping in to introduce one of my newest designs for DBA this year.  It is a yarn wrapped letter that is framed!  I distressed both the scrapbook paper and the frame because that is one of my favorite looks!  I love all of these colors together.  I think they are so refreshing!

Favorites of 2011

I can't believe it is time to say goodbye to another year.  2011 has been such a fabulous year from graduating at The University of Alabama, my niece, Kayla, being born and bringing such joy to our family's lives, and the explosion of Doodlebug Art.   I can remember this time last year, I kept telling everyone how much I wanted to get this whole 'painting' thing going, really get it my creations out there, get my website going, and create a Facebook page.  I was so nervous to create my FB page, in fear that no one would 'Like' it..but look at it now - less than a year and I am so close to 200 fans!!

In order to end the year off right, I thought I'd take a moment to share with you my absolute favorite pieces of this year! Here they are!..

One Proud Lady

This post is dedicated to my most proud piece yet!  I have a {very} small collection of windows that I have had since the beginning of summer.  I had some ideas of what I wanted to do with them {thanks to Pinterest} but I still wanted to hold off to see if I could come up with the perfect idea.  I went to Home Depot yesterday to get some wood cut for some frames I am going to create for 2012 {which if you have visited my Facebook Page, you have already had a sneak peek}.  I got some different lengths cut and the creative wheels in my head started turning....

The pictures are 4x6's.  There is a long frame that is Chocolate Brown, a smaller frame that is Tiffany Blue, then PlexiGlass to protect the pictures.  I have one more window in this design, and a few windows that have 2 rows with 3 panes each that I am going to fix up!  {which I can't wait to see how they turn out!}

Merry Christmas!!

I just wanted to stop in and thank all of my Doodlebug Art fans!  I have to say that I pretty much have the most awesome fans out there!  I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Christmas!!

Thank you for all of your love and support.  Christmas 2011 was such a great success and I love being able to create special pieces for you and your loved ones.  I hope they all enjoy their pieces just as much as I enjoyed creating them!!

Before I sign off , I've got 2 last pieces to share.  These pieces are going out to my family. 

As you all know, I have a new niece that was born in September.  I wanted to play around with this idea of using her footprint in an image. This was one of her gifts to her Mommy and Daddy..

This one is going out to my aunt - she has been wanting a Dots painting, but wanted to peace signs painted within them.  Can you find all of the peace signs?

And.... I just realized I haven't posted this piece yet, so why not now?  This is a 'Welcome' sign that I created for fun. I love the color palet - oranges, greys, and greens.  This piece is about the size of  a 10x20.  {It is still available!}
